The JSS kids are a joy, too! Margaret told me today that she and Catherine, both residents of Faith House, are hoping, praying, and waiting for the opportunity to attend secondary school next year. She says that back in 2002 she completed 8th grade, but had no money to go further with her education, since high school is not free. She feels that this year in school here will be a good review for the exam to enter 9th grade, as soon as next year.
She warned me of this because she didn't want me to worry if I return then and find them missing from our campus. I do pray that all of these guys and ladies successfully move out into the world when they choose to leave here. To think that they are still here in their late teens, just now studying a 5th/6th grade curriculum, shows that they are eager learners. Tyey soak up the lessons like sponges, and ask tons of questions, digging even deeper. I believe it is also the warm, loving care they receive from each other, the Missionaries, MiniMissionaries, and teachers that keeps them coming back.
Enjoy these photos of the class, most taken by Laney during her and Tamara's last week with them, in early April. You can see the girls painting their intricate designs on stationery and magnets for sale in the US. Jewelry making will begin next week, for sale in the Rafiki exchange! Oh boy!
