Mombasa retreat

Although it may sound like all we do is play, that's only because the routine during the week is less interesting to describe than the explores on the weekend. I promise to come back and write more about our work and the kids, but I'm eager to share pics of Mobasa-4 glorious days at the beach on the Indian Ocean. This is the first set. I'll share more later of Easter Sunrise on the 8th and my early birthday celebration that night.

We did have to work hard the week before we left for Mombasa by completing the medical well-checks and preparing for "Games". We were assigned various responsibilities for leading 4 days of creative learning and play for the school children during their second week of spring break. Thus, we had to meet, plan, and prepare for Games before Mombasa, so that we could be ready to roll early Tuesday morning, after returning late Monday night from our beach trip. More about Games later...

For now, enjoy the scenery. We did! This beach trip was way up there right next to Amboseli Safari. We all LOVED it! There were free activities, like relaxing and reading, and beach volleyball, which was a hoot. We also paid for a snorkle trip on Sunday afternoon, which was fabulous. The other four missionaries went to Mombasa all day on Saturday and took some great photos of this famous historical Muslim city/port. I chose to relax and catch up on my Easter Bible study. I'll share their photos of the city later, too. I'm sorry I missed the sights, but I sure was relaxed when they returned. And they sure looked wiped out from the heat!

I went shelling at low tide most mornings, and found a bunch of shell/coral treasures. I swam in the ocean during every afternoon high tide. There is a rough coral reef right next to the shoreline at Tiwi Beach, so it was easier to just wait until the tide came in to jump in the waves--not having to walk on the coral reef.
